a little more than 50K miles and $14,000 is the price it's advertised for. Anyone know what price I should set my sights to during negotiations? The KBB value seems to hover around the $15,000 mark, but from what I hear, those prices aren't always reliable.

The car is at a Toyota dealership, would that make them want to unload the car as fast as possible and go lower on the price than they would on a Toyota?

It seems like the transmission problems I hear about so much started with the 2000+ models, so I'm trying to stick with the '99s.

    Thoughts? :x:

my dad has a 2000 TL with 38,000 miles. He's trying to sell it too. He would definately give u better price than Toyota if you lived near me.

They're good cars but I have heard a lot of problems with their transmissions

yea, if your dad has a 2000, then he's prolly trying to sell it before his tranny takes a dive.... because it will.

i bought 2000 used more than a year ago, never had a problem yet. I took mine into the dealer for the trans. recall check up. Even though my car has no tranny issues at 84,000 miles, they installed the recall valve upgrade anyway. My friend who has a salvage title 2000 TL took his in for the recall service and the replaced his entire transmission.

As for $14,000 at a stealership, unless its immaculate and comes with a warranty, I'd look for a private sale. You can probably get a better deal with the same miles.
