Right now, Springfield Mil Spec is at the top of the list. Anything else to check out in the ~$500 price range?

I don't want anything special, just something to shoot at the range and probably keep by my bed. I carry a USP Compact when clothing allows and a Kel Tec P32 otherwise. I might carry it on occasion, but it won't be my primary carry. I want the standard 5" version, no frills.

what about a used Kimber? you should be able to find one for about $500 if you look enough. I bought my Pro Carry II brand new for only $620.

Yeah, that's most likely a Mil Spec, the one I'm seriously considering. :hs:

$400 for a parked one, and $450 for a stainless one is standard fare for the lower milspecs. they make a higher line of them that goes for more, and i don't know if they make those with the SS.

I agree, that way you won't have to waste time and money upgrading it later, and you get a much better looking gun, IMHO.

My Springfield WWII replica is having FTE issues and is also destroying the brass, so you may want to get a better model.
Then again my Norinco 1911 works flawlessly.
(Personally I prefer the H&K's to the 1911's)

The GI/Mil-spec models have a tendency to damage the brass because the ejection port is not lowered like on the Loaded models.

    Mil-specs also have unadjustable sights.

I already have a USP Compact and a SIGP239. I just feel my collection needs a 1911 :hs:

I also might sell my KT P32 for a P3AT :hs:

I just don't like the idea of no lockback on an empty mag :(

Thte one reason I dont want to get a 1911 (well thinking against it) is that the Ruger I already have has a 1911 style frame and I want something different

Which one? There are like 3 diff ones. The TRP Operator which has a rail, ambi safety, FLGR, Bull Bbl, grip tape grips, adj. night sights goes for around 1100-1200. I would say get the Sig GSR 1911 in Nitron. They sell it on onpointfirearms.com for like 830 or so. But get on the waiting list. I am number 54 biatch!!!!!
