I'm thinking about getting a new gun to keep in my truck for those quick trips to the store that I don't want to grab my XD, and for traveling so that if they lose my gun (again) or it "disappears" in TSA's hands, I'm not out a good gun.

I was orignally looking at a G19, I want cheap so I'd probably just look for a trade in or used.

But then my buddy in Denver called and said a local shop is having a sale on Steyr M9's this weekend, $419 + tax. I can't even find a steyr in this state, and when I looked into getting one from CDNN It was going to come out to about $420 total after ffl and tax.

But if I get the steyr it's not going to end up a cheapo truck gun, the hole idea was that if it gets lost or stolen in travel, screw it, it was a used glock you can find them anywhere. So do I get the steyr on the good deal, or try and find a used glock for ~$350, and is it even plausible to find a used G19 for around $350?

:dunno: just thinking out loud, not sure what I want to do yet.

Is it that hard to find used glocks for that price? I don't care if it's gen3 or anything, I have no need for a rail.

Are any of the CZ's good? The only cheap guns I've seen around here in that price range are the taurus P whatevers...they are OK...but I dunno.

I think the CZ's may be in the same position as the steyr though, I don't recall ever seeing one in a gun store out here.

Pick up the Steyr now, use it until you can afford another gun. Not like it's a problem to have as many guns as possible

I'd go Glock personally. Cheap mags, easy to find, etc...

I'd expect the used g19 to be closer to $400. CZ's are pretty decent guns, the PA's and FEG's aren't bad either around $200ish think you can get them in reg 9mm and 9mm MAK, around $230ish you can get a 9mm Walther P1. Its illegal to leave handguns in cars in this state and I've had a couple cars broken into before, maybe alot less break ins in your area but I'd still rather keep it as cheap as possible just in case.

I was swaying towards the steyr, just because I've wanted one and I know I probably won't find one at that price for a while.

But like stixlars pointed out, the cheap mags and even being able to get a .30 round mag for it would be nice.

And I'm honestly not going to be traveling via airplane for probably another month or two, at the least, it's mostly just because I want a new toy

I'm not positive, but I think leaving a gun in a car is federal, not local?

Something cheap would be good incase it did get stolen though, but I do intend on getting some sort of locking compartment/safe/something or other.
I'll look into the PA and FEGs here locally.

Car thing is a state law here, I think its ok in most free states to leave it although might have to keep gun and mag's seperate if you dont have a CCW.

    Glocks are ugly and reliable.
They're difficult to come by cheaply because they retain value.
    Cheap guns are worth it.
For an extra hundred bucks I would get a truck mounted gun safe - this would lend credibility if a cop ever stopped you.

Next gun show isn't until october I think :wtc:

But we usually don't have cheap crap here anyway, it's all the people that live in the sticks who come in for the gun show. You can save $100 by buying a gun pretty much anywhere else in town.

Looked around today and apparently only two stores have used glocks in stock, neither G19s two G22's and one G34, all above $550, no night sites, no extra mags, nothin. Of course I could get a new one for $500, but that defeats my whole purpose.

The steyr deal was an web only deal, so that defeats my whole purpose of avoiding shipping to one of the asshole FFLs down here anyway.

Looked for the CZ and FET squid suggested, and no one had anything like that at all either.

Looks like I'll be waiting for a while till the right deal comes a long because I think I'm left with a Taurus PT140 and a S&W Sigma in my "disposable" gun price range.

whats a good price on a used G22?

this guy is asking 575, its a "blue label" gun with factory night sights... comes with 10 15 round mags and 2 29rd mags. i think with the mags, that puts the gun alone at about 375 right? should i get it? i want another pistol, but really want to reload... the mags could be sold for 200 and i could probably get 400 for the gun im thinking. id like to keep the mags
