OTCC's sub is almost running out and I was thinking that it would be nice if we could raise enough money to put it on its own server. For about $100ish a month + tax and a few random fees we can get the same server I run axioentertainment off of from ev1servers and keep it alive for a year. 60 gigs will go further than 20, it will be our own bandwith, and we can put practically anything on it at that point.

    Thoughts?

Im down with that. If everyone on the OTCC chipped it in shouldn't be too much money each.

you have to get 67 people to throw down $20 :hs:

i mean, some folks would probably plop down more...but i don't think OTCC is that big. or the ones that care to donate anyway.

is that our only option? maybe we could just set up a couple dreamhost accounts when they do the uber-deal or whatever? :dunno:

$20 for the whole year with 67 people? Does it have to be paid for in full, or do they require monthly payments? That would end up being a problem/hassle though if people stop paying.

Is that the cheapest option? I mean, if we remain active enough, we can still use a smaller capacity and rotate it more often. 60gb is surely nice, but I don't know if we can raise that money. I'm pretty poor myself.

I could chip in a little. I think it would be more to keep the domain name and as a tribute to Icecleric.

Does this mean that OTCC2 is also expiring soon?

I'd do my best to try and chip in, but it seems there have to be other options out there.

Welcome to the OTCC poeglove and mundi!

mundi, I noticed you have a sub...you should get an av! We have a very fine selection right here for your very own convenience. Please, make yourselves at home, and do enjoy your stay with the OT Comic Crew.

I can switch OTCC because icecleric gave me access to his dreamhost account, but I don't have access to his netfirms account so OTCC2 will probably die off whenever the sub on it runs out.
I agree that there are other options out there, but it would be nice to have our own server without having to worry about getting things deleted, etc.
    Image comics ;)

$20 for a year is nothing. That's like, nothing. I'll do it!

i think it would have worked if OTCC didn't have that dead period where almost nothing was getting uploaded on it for like 2 months. If things have changed and stuff is continously getting updated and uploaded now then you can count me in for a donation.

We've been fairly active in uploading things :dunno:

We usually announce it in the chat rooms rather than the forum as of late :o

That's some good logic...if it was a decision of either/or :hsughno:
But for me, it's an auxilliary expense. I'm buying my comics no matter what. This is $20 I won't be spending on food this year.

    It's no biggie.

Also keep us posted about Icecleric's christmas idea. I'll put down for that too.

He makes a good point on the server thing. not worrying about deletion, etc.

It is basically the "rent or own" debate.

$20 a year is a under two bucks a month. I've downloaded thousands of dollars in material thanks to the generosity of this group.

The only thing is like somebody said before, I wonder if we have the numbers? We're a new/small crew.

I'll make the post on axioentertainment also, can we start throwing together a list of "official" pledges?
