I think Alves is great, and will probably be a tougher test than BJ now that Alves has really refined his game.

But it doesn't make sense when people say "Alves by first round TKO or GSP by decision", as if he is a guy like Lytle or BJ who are very difficult to finish with GNP or submission. I think this fight is much more likely than most not to go to a decision, based on the characteristics of both fighters.

I didn't see the first thread

if you are talking about the other Thiago thread it seems people forget Thiago's early UFC record

GSP lost to Matt Hughes and Matt Serra, what's your point?

Oh. Your point was another GSP nuthugging thread.

    Good job.

I hope Alves KTFO's GSP... It would be even better if he would use a hardening agent (ala Margaritto) on his handwraps/gloves. I mean, if GSP didn't cheat by greasing up to fight BJ, then why would anyone complain if Thiago did this??

Joe_Cool is an idiot who wouldn't recognise context if it walked up to him and punched him on the nose.

GSP could have fought Thiago the same night he beat BJ and still would have won.

I doubt it, GSP looked tired after the BJ fight and fighting two elite fighters in one night would not be possible even for an amazing athlete like GSP

I bring it up when sackriders say he's undefeated. He is not undefeated. He has one loss. Whether you think it should be a loss or not, it is one. His record is 29-1, not 30-0.

But why exactly do you think this has anything to do with anything?

I think that's pretty much what Joe_Cool does.

It doesn't matter to him that it was an illegal elbow that cut fedor in the first place. Not to mention the fact that it was pretty much the only shot that TK landed (a glancing one at that).

The only reason it was a loss is because it took place in a RINGS tournament format which meant that they had to have a winner to move into the next round.

For all intents and purposes that isn't a loss.

    Irony.

And that winner... was it Fedor, or was it Kohsaka?

In reality, however, it is a loss.

His win-loss record has it as a loss.

And since most of the cage crew is a bunch of douchebags, I don't think I'll cry myself to sleep tonight.
