How long does a unit have to be up and running before they are deployable?

    Sincerely,
    Curious in Missouri

    Oh Hiya!
once you have enough deployable members I would assume

my unit was brand new in 2003-2004, and right now we're at about 80ish% iirc.

we still have never been deployed, and we got all the newest equipment when we first started :dunno:

i guess it just depends what the higher ups decide

A buddy of mine and me are heading to a new unit in Missouri as well. It is standing up in October. I've heard that a unit cannot deploy until two years after it stands up.

once you hit battle strength, you are deployable. The bonding and teambuilding will occur during pre-mob.

There's standards out there and directives from SecDef but at the end of the day the call is made by the unit commander (usually at the O-5 level) but in this specific case - the call could be made by the NG State Cdr to deployability. At the minimum if it's a new unit I imagine that the 2yr timeline mentioned above is probably pretty accurate.

I'm not sure about the NG, but hawaii had a new stryker unit (infantry, regular army) created this year and I believe they're supposed to deploy next month.
