So Randy was on a local radio show this morning to announce that he is opening up a gym here. It seems like he is able to do what most other gyms are trying to do, but at what point does it just become market sturation and his name lose all value?

He was successful in getting Dean Lister to leave our gym to coach at Xtreme Couture, he apparantly has Wandy moving in to coach at his FL gym, so is he actually going to be able to sustain cookie cutter gyms by bringing in big name quality coaches?

I dont know why, but i see MMA being a fad and losing popularity in a matter of years.

I think it's pretty cool if he gets quality coaches in, if he just finds regular scrubs then it will be bad

not saying every coach has to be a known fighter or something, but they should at least be recognized as a good coach

Randy can do it, he's like the Arnold Palmer of MMA.

If a gym has quality coaches and a positive environment why would it fail? I don't think it matters who's name is on the sign out front. And as far as MMA being a fad surely at some point it will reach a peak and lose some of the casual fans but that is true with anything.

I meant as a real MMA gym. I just can't picture his gyms slowing down. There are going to be tons of them, so what happens, does he have all of the good fighters out of his gyms always move to LV?
Are there going to be fights in major shows between XC people?

thats not what im talkign about though. Randy and Pat are the only two who have succesfully spread their gyms nationwide (or in pat's case his name) and at this rate Randy could very well have 100 gyms in a few years. Do you think Buffer is going to introduce, "The fighter in the blue trunks, fighting out of Xtreme Couture in Vancouver Washington, Pippy McSquiggle!!!!!!, and his opponent, fighting out of Xtreme Couture in Stillwater Oklahoma, Spanky Von Hairysack!!!!!"

If he got serious backers I wouldnt be suprised at that kidn of growth, a lot of retail chains take off that fast. 10 really successful stores and a confident backer and you can easily have 100 in a couple years.

but you are right, i think the way randy does it with his seal of approval would be impossible to handle while he is still busy fighting.

    tons here

Good point. Maybe they are taking over the old Good Guys building or the old tower records, not really sure.

Wandy is gonna teach in FL!???

The Xc gym down here i think is like 20 min from my house.

ATT will crush them. Bad place to open one up. To close to ATT HQ.

Branding, nothing more. Its about time.

He's doing to martial arts training what Joe Gold did to personal fitness/bodybuilding, or what Trump did to luxury real estate. Start with a quality product, and tie it to a character/persona/lifestyle that's appealing to your target consumer.

Branding or expansion do not necessarily degrade the product, and I do not think they are or will in this case.

thats the feeling I got, just very curious to see how it plays out. if his name becomes watered down and worth much less or if his name is going to become gold and everything will continue to grow under him.

regardless, he's got to be a really smart guy.

I'd say I am 95% sure. Him and Randy both mentioned him coming to america to train at his school in florida. Then there was all the talk about chuck's fight.
Then next thing you know Wandy is confirming a move to america. So unless things changed or soured between him and Randy, i'd say it is very likely.

And i think the days of Miyagi vs Cobra Kai are over. Not sure they are worried about getting smashed by other gyms. They probably just want to open up in an area that makes them a lot of money.

At the very least I bet alot of students check it out, if only because Wandy is an instructor.

If he was a proactive instructor at the one here and actually worked with guys other than the fight team I would go there in a heartbeat.

unfortuantely it never works that way witht he good coaches :(

Head Coaches - Ricardo Liborio (BJJ/Grappling), Marcelo and Conan Silviera, Howard Davis Jr. (Boxing, Olympic Gold Medalist), Mohamed Ouali (Muay Thai, World Champ), Steven Williams (Wrestling, Olympian 94' (dunno if he placed)),

Also keep in mind the lvl of competitors we have on our team tho they do not instruct all the time. I believe we have 20 something BJJ World Champions.

We do have brain storming sessions where everyone is the teacher.

Wandy isn't as famous in the US as you think. The Couture name is 100X more powerfull than Wandy's to the avg fan.
