I have a passion. Art. I love expressing myself. I am a decent guitar player, drummer, bassist, photographer and digital artits... The problem is. I'm just decent at all of these skills. I pick up a hobby. And learn a lot about it just too loose interest in it and move on to the next. Is it a personality trait that I do or don't posess? I want to be excellent at something. I want to be a phenominal guitar player, or drummer, or photographer... I seem to have a glass celing. I have tons and tons of skills that i'm "o.k." at.

    Anyone have a similar situation?

I'm going to post something that is very meaningful, and originated from the mind of a fellow OTer.

Make yourself the definitive expert on whatever you have the most passion for. It may take time and discipline, but you will excel. You will have to choose the one from the many.

I have the exact same problem. I'm pretty decent at just about anything I pick up, but don't have the time or the need to make one thing my whole life. Recently I've picked up photography. I've realized that to be really good at anything takes a lot of effort, whether you have natural talent or not. However there's a couple things I think I could want to do as a living and that's what I'm concentrating on now, using my hobbies just as a way to relax.

Have you ever done an MBTI test? Any chance you're an INTP?

Some good points. See, I pick up a hobby simply to "occupy my mind" and relax me. When i become intermediate at that hobby i discard it. becuase it seems to loose its ability to relax or occupy me. :dunno:
