She wanted to learn and possibly get a permit and I figured I'd go along for the ride, plus the instructor is a member of my site and offered free to one of us. I already have a FL non-resident but I figure I'll go ahead and get the LA permit as well.

She really enjoyed the class and learned a lot. I'd recommend anyone interesting in handguns and personal protection to take a class of this nature even if you don't ever plan on carrying concealed.

Here are the silhouettes from the shooting portion. Keep in mind it was her second time ever firing a handgun, the first being 2 days prior. Course of fire was 12 shots at 6, 10 and 15 feet then a mag dump for good measure.

My flyer was from the mag dump. :o

Nice, I visit there occasionally. I am going to try to make it to the BZ next time I am back home in Slidell.

I took the handgun safety class (OR) with my girl last night, no shooting portion. Not required up here.

    try this target http://shootingsafely.com/correction.jpg

have a buddy load some snap caps in your mag randomly to check if you are flinching or moving the gun forward with each pull.

start slow and get a good group, then speed up

    shoot a fuck ton/practice

i want to...but i figure that the formal training would be a waste if i did it right off the bat...i'd probably go through a couple thousand rounds before i try something like that.

I found this skeet thrower in my grandmother's back yard. I'm gonna go buy some skeet to test it out and will bring it out there next time.

Absolutely not. You're better off learning the right way now than the wrong way then having to be retaught everything.
