Post up your recommendations for the best military boot. Any new threads made after this one will get merged here. Include links whenever possible, street price if you know it, discounts where available, etc. Pics are highly encouraged (of the boot - not your busted feet :fawk: ).

i found the flight deck boots, i think you non navy types call them jump boots, with the construction worker guy on the box to be the most comfortable. to me at least. i've always bought them at the exchange.

it's a white box with a construction worker or some contractor guy in yellow overalls (i think).

for an easy to shine boot, i recommend what we call "Locks" or "Lox", not sure of the spelling. anyways, instead of laces, they have elastic around the ankles (not good for shipboard use cause of that) so you just slip them right on. i call them lazy man boots. they shine up pretty nice though.

yeah no nylon, and i have to wear the green undershirt, because the tan one is not 100% cotton, so i'm told i could burn easier in it.

vibram soles on issue boots for garrison, magnums for the field. I like them because they are light and breathe well but they wear out quickly.

The first boots I picked up were two pairs of Wellco Jungle Boots. I had a pair in Black and Green. Before I even took black ones home I had the sole changed out for the Vibram sole listed down lower. They're light, great for rucking everything day to day pretty much. I wore them landnaving alot as well but if things begin to get wet they can be slippery because of flatter modified sole.

Last summer after we were authorized to wear desert boots with BDU's I purchased a pair of Wellco Desert boots. I pretty much only wore these in a more garrison/range enviroment. Once i wore them some and broke them in they were very comfortable. They're obviously a little heavier the jungles but not too bad. They will soak up water because you can't really condition the suede like you can the black leather using oils and what not. If you need weather protection then you'll want the insulated boot which is also going to be hotter.

About a month ago I picked up another pair of desert boots because I was going to get some ACU's but no issued boots. I purchased some Bates Hot Weather Durashock boots from the military clothing and sales. So far after I broke these in as well they've been fine. For some reason my feet seem to be sweating more in these though.

    Boot Soles:
Alright here is the vibram sole I would recommend for rucking along with a pair of boots that fit you and are well broken in. This sole was probably the most popular sole for guys attending the SF Preparation Course and SF Assesment and Selection.

For insoles I've ran both SOF Soles www.sofsole.com and SOLE footbeds http://www.yoursole.co.uk/

Also don't forget good socks. I've worn Fox River boot socks most of my time in so far. I'm thinking I might move to some ingenious and try those as well.

Danner makes good boots. I've never worn them but I've only heard good things. You think your unit would be cool with you wearing those? Sometimes the Highspeed looking Oakleys, 5.11's, and Bates style assault boots don't fly.

I'll find out this weekend when I drill.

While I was at PLDC (WLC) they said their only requirement was that the boot have a distinct heel - not a continuous flat sole.
