Finally, they've been fitted. First picture below, better ones will follow:big grin:

Basically I'm very happy with it. Tyre noise has increased, and the ride is more on par with the STi now. Its firmed up the steering as well, which kind of defies the point of having it as an easy to use city car:bigthumb:

Looks that little bit more special now as well.

Yeah, its actually no worse than what it was before. The way its parked on the kerb doesnt help either. The other side looks ok:bigthumb:

I'll most likely end up dropping it by about 35mm just to close the gap up a little.

    Bloody tight.

Wanna go 4x4ing with me? With that ground clearance and curb weight, I think you'd outdo the Rover.

    Nope 15s.

They dont look it due to low-profile of the Yokohamas. I'm more concerned about increasing the grip rather than cosmetics:big grin:

I was under the assumption that Polos were simply Euro Golfs :p Am I wrong?

Ok guys, VW Polo history class:big grin:

Basically the Polo was until the arrival of the Lupo, Volkswagens smallest car. Now it sits above the Lupo and below the Golf in terms of size and price.

My Polo is the fifth generation model, launched in 2000 and is essentially a facelifted versionl of the Mk4 Polo that was launched in 1994. The mk4 was the model which really cemented the Polo's quality status compared to other small hatchbacks such as the Ford Fiesta. Before the mk4, the Polo was quite poor in terms of quality and build and best described as lightweight and "tinny".
So no, the Polo is not an European Golf, but an entirely seperate model. Latest version (mk6) was launched in late 2001.

I have the 1.0E Polo, which has a whole 50bhp from a 1 litre inline 4:cool: Kinda different to the STi.
It does however have multi-point injection and drive-by-wire throttle which makes it perky if not powerful. Handling is good now its on the new rims, but body roll can be excessive like many of the smaller VWs. Its greatest asset is its interior, which for the price has amazing quality.
Also I reckon it looks cool, with the funky little mesh-filled front bumper that was standard fitment:big grin:

Did you say 50bhp?? Damn that is slow! It still looks  though.

It sounds slow on paper, but for UK city driving its adequate really. I only have it for use when I'm in the city. Long distance and general driving I use the STi.

0-60 is around 15seconds. But past the slow inital acceleration, it only weighs about 900Kgs so once the momentum is built up it does have some pretty useful performance.
