AK-47 GURUS: I've been checking out ak's lately & there are so many different options & pricing on these things from anywhere between $300-$2000. Liked a "black widow" I saw on gunbroker, as it looked synthetic but was way too riced out for my tastes. Just looking for everyone's feedback regarding best bang for the buck, pros/cons of different makes, etc. Looking to spend in the neighborhood of $500, but I'm more than willing to spend more than that if its worth the $. Any & all input is appreciated. Thanks!

If you want high quality you're going to be looking at stuff like arsenal.

I like the norico's. Don't spend too much on an AK.

:werd: Arsenal or one of the well done SAIGA conversions if your going new, not new and more money look for something milled from polytech, bulgarian, hungarian.

Hell, I've always thought an AK should be a shooter, rather than an investment. I hand-selected my WASR from the rack, and couldn't be happier. I know there's horror stories about them out there, but mine's been fine. Three others on the rack didn't pass muster, though.

If you like underfolders the Yugo's are a pretty good deal for $429. Finish is pretty good and they are built on a DCI reciever.

I had a CAI WASR-10/63. It was OK, but had some occasional feeding problems. Had an overall sort of "loose" feel to it. Definitely a "shooter," as opposed to a safe queen or anything approaching "marksman" grade. It could probably manage "minute of man" out to 200 yards or so.
