Is the sportsman's guide 182 grain 7.62x54r safe to shoot out of a mosin nagant? I don't even have one yet, but i'm stocking up on ammo as it's incredibly cheap right now

Also, does anyone know if this would be ok to fire out of any kind of SAR 3 or dragonov type of weapon? or anything with an AK kind of action/ pkm. I don't have one either, just wondering in case i happen to purchase one.... Basically is this heavy of a bullet ok for everything or should i go with the lighter 147 grain stuff?

cliffs: is 182 grain steel core, corrosive 7.62x54r ok to shoot out of a mosin nagant or does it need to be the lighter 147 grain?

wow... that is pretty cheap, but i'm getting quite a few other things from sportsmans guide to save shipping, just wondering if the 182 grain is safe for most guns... steel core should be fun to play with as well

SHould be fine in anything. The steel core is not AP as you assume it is. You have to have a hardened steel core for that.

What kind of difference would I see with steel core and FMJ? Reccomendations for some fun things to shoot at? I have my own land out of town so pretty much anything I can clean up relatively easy.

I'm more worried about the extra weight of the 182 grain bullet being too high and creating too much pressure in the load to turn it into a glock...

and yes i realize steel core isn't AP, but it will penetrate further and better than regular copper jacketed lead bullets.

from what I have read, if you are puting anything through Drags or PSLs, it is best to go with the 148 gr from wolf :dunno:

What happens if you hold a bullet in the air, suspended between two things with the back of it exposed, and hit with something really hard?

The powder would burn and the most that would happen is the bullet would pop out and fall to the ground. It's not going to shoot out in some random direction like in movies.

the case would blow up since it has no support and the bullet would just go wherever :dunno:

It will seek out the nearest baby or pregnant woman and kill them. Unless it is a .50BMG, in which case it will seek out the nearest airliner and shoot it down.

These are the cold hard facts of the matter as related to me by the Brady Campaign.
