Since I recently picked up my AR, I've had the displeasure of lugging the big, stock, hard plastic case to the range :hs:(went yesterday and it shoots awesome- still need to fiddle with the Eotech:naughty:)

I'm curious what aftermarket cases you have for your rifles, and did you incorporate the thought of not being suspicious as much as possible when you purchased it? A link to what you recommend/own would be great, also.:o

Personally, I'd like something that carries 5-10 30RD Magazines, and maybe another small zip-up pocket for my ears and eyes.

Oh, and where can a nga get some cheap .223 in bulk?

How is fitment with your rifle inside? I'm sure with the 42" case you linked I would be pretty safe.

  6. Yeah, I was looking through old gun catalogs from the late 90's a few weeks ago, the ammo prices made me depressed.

fit depends on your rifle. I'm not sure about the midwayusa bag as I actually have a uncle mikes but I got some of the other midwayusa knock off such as their excellent range bag and shooting mat. It's quaility I'm sure.

I would find the bad that closest to the OAL of your rifle. There should be a flap to protect the muzzle from rubbing the zipper on the inside.

A 16" carbine with collapsed stock should fit a 36" case without problems.
