Yes, makes sense to have a new form factor. It'll appeal to the teenager/college student crowd as RIM continues its push into the consumer segment of the market.

Blackberries used to be somewhat high end but when Tmobile started offering the pearl for free with a 2 year contract you see them everywhere now

that doesn't make them "not high end". Shit tmobile is a fucking joke of a carrier. Shitty coverage, shitty data. They HAVE to give stuff away to get customers.

The new Blackberry Touchscreen, Codenamed Thunder or 9500. Coming for Verizon and Vodafone as an exclusive device. For once they’ll get an exclusive device, but Verizon will have a sales quota for the device and if they don’t meet those numbers, we’ve heard the exclusivity will then dissolve and it’s over. The picture is only a guess at what it will look like based on what they have said it comes with

Your post is basically stating that a company like RIM can only have one form factor for a particular demographic. Clamshell devices are always popular, and it offers more choice for consumers. You're basically one stupid post from getting on my empty ignore list, what a feat.

I am excited about this because Verizon finally got off their asses and managed to get a phone on time/early compared to everyone else in the world. I'm freakin amazed, even if the phone is so-so.
