Freaking awesome. It's like a Gateway store, but cleaner, bigger, and better. Tons of hardware and software out on display, and a sort of class / tutorial in the back - complete with big screen and tons of benches. They must have had 30 employees in the place. That will change in a month though. Although, the place was packed with customers.. So time will tell.

I think the apple stores are better than most computer stores, mostly because they actually have almost all of the products you can buy hooked up and ready to use, plus you can actually use them, not just let you watch some screen saver.

Where in LA? I saw the construction of the one in Old Town Pasadena, and I've been to the one at the Grove.

Tempted to get a 15 gig iPod since I hear rumors of live recording capabilities.

The only way I'd ever go back to Apple is working in one of those stores.

I've never seen such a well executed format. Every machine was out and ready to use. Every machine was on-line (connected to the Internet). The people there didn't bother you while you're playing with the machines. When you go to them, they are super friendly. Overall, I seriously give this store an A+

Dude! I was so tempted to ask for an application just to be there all the time, but then I remembered a few key things. 1) $$$$$$$$ It probably wouldn't pay a lot. 2) I don't know shit about Apple products. 3) I hate Apple. Rather, love/hate relationship. 4) I'm a PC programmer.

Herb, thats how all the Apple Stores are. I worked at the one in Miami. Was it a new one that just opened? There usually are about 10-25 people staffed at them depending on the size.

 you need to get the fuck out of the midwest. Go to Miami or NYC or LA and apply there. They definately need people with talent and know what the fuck theyre doing. The classes they give in the back of the stores vary from noobish to pro stuff.

I mean where else can I go, and test out a dual 23" cinema display G5, connected to a Canon XL1 without someone asking me if I want a service plan with that.

Apples retail stores are nothing short of extraordinary.. Absolutely brilliantly executed.. they are just as much apple as imac or ipod.. The've won multiple awards already for design/retail execution and have been acclaimed by the business/design/retail people as freaking great.

and i am not even a HUGE apple fan. Just gotta recognize Apple for what it does well.

Gateway stores are doing horribly financially btw, and Apple stores, according to some analysts are actually outperforming expectation. The one in chicago(woodfield actually) is great, they are about to open another one.

I will never own an Apple for that reason

Apple's are it's downfall. That and OS X is missing a few little thing that would be helpful if they wanted to broaden their market... or at least things on the version I got to use.
