First time i was working on a song in reason, second time i was just checking out azureus.

this black-grey box pops up and says 'You need to restart your computer. Please turn it off or hold down the power key', or some shit like that, and it's written in different languages below. The whole computer including the mouse doesn't respond at all, and the music i had playing from itunes started skipping on the same half-second.

    :hs: what does this mean?

its a kernal panic, i've been getting a few of them recently as well as some other random/ weird crashes.

im taking my mac to the apple store on friday, and hopefully they will fix it or give me a new one :hs:

    could be bad ram...
install any aftermarket ram since you bought it?
take it out for a few days and see if it still happens

No aftermarket ram or anything, it's all stock stuff. except for the USB mouse :dunnno: which worked fine on my PC before.

If you're within warranty, Apple will take care of it.

    thought so :bigthumb:

i bought it two months ago, so i think I am. but the problem is, i'm in tanzania and i'd have to ship it out or something. would take a while, and this is my only computer :o

is it something i can repair myself?

your warranty lasts a year, i'd just continue using it for now (its not like it crashes every 5 minutes)...and just get it repaired next time you are near an apple store.

if you try to repair it yourself, you void your warranty.

plus, they are probably just going to give you a new computer. i dont think kernal panic is really something they can fix too easily?

depends, if they say they are going to replace the computer for you, but you have to turn in your old one, i'd say, well let me bring it back in a few days i need it tomorrow. (then delete your stuff and bring it in)

bc they may run tests on it to see whats causing the crashing, and in the process they may see your cracked version of CS3, Final Cut Suite, etc etc.

The place I bought it from won't care...I gave them adobe cs3 cracked to distribute :mamoru: all the mac software you get from there (apart from stock and microsoft office) is pirated.
