Its not my fav. one in the batch, but it showed the whole scene with the least amount of blood.

$75 and i retain all rights. They have/had the right to run it in the paper once (which they did) and to use it online. For whatever reason no one had any photos of the crime scene, only mug-shots of the dead so they were very persistant on wanting to buy it.

4 miles which direction? Im north off Myrtle. RCAD checking in!
The photo editor said the staff photographer got there at 11:30. I was there from 9:45-11ish. The body was gone by about 10:15.

I just emailed the photo editor and said i had some shots from the shooting and asking if he was interested. he emailed me back with his cell number saying to call him as soon as i got the email, and if that was not possible to email him some small .jpgs. I wasnt able to call him at that second so i emailed him the .jpgs and said i could call in a little (i had a shoot over Sarasota in a Cessna 172). I asked him for feedback even if he wasnt interested in purchasing any of them and he gave me feedback and said he wanted one. :bigthumb:

Thanks for the good feedback guys, i was suprised to see that fron OT!

Congrats man. You should have also tried to submit it to the Associated Press. AP pays much better than most local presses. You'd be amazed how much you can make just listening to the police band and getting photos then selling them to AP, Reuters and local presses.

*edit* Also make sure if you continue to do this you get everyone's name, age and job title that is in the scene. If you could come up with good photos and cut lines eventually people will be calling you for shots.

    nice name

    PHOTO / RORY COOLEY:wiggle:

I didnt think the AP would be interested, but then again i never thought the local paper would show interest. In the future I will market the images better.

"Blanco just received a $2,300 raise last week, bringing his annual salary to about $57,000."

Officers make that much? I thought we paid them next to nothing. That's good to know.

    Congrats BTW!

A lot of people think that, but in fact AP is much more than just 3000+ people writing stories and taking pics around the globe. They are also an image bank where a lot of news agencies buy their photos. I have had to buy quite a few photos from AP already this year for events that happen in say Portland, but I'm 100 miles south. In your case, maybe not, but it certainly does not hurt to try. Again though, props for getting published.
