    Just wondering...hamster would probably know but does kipping pullups transfer to higher number of strict pullups? One would think it should...

    The aim is to get the max number of pullups in a specific time, not to hypertrophy muscle. This is an important distinction.

    It's pretty much transferring horizontal momentum into vertical momentum.
    I've done them, they are fucking hard and you will be fucking winded. I don't really like the whole idea of transferring so much force to ligaments of the shoulder.

    edit: I'm sure you could make some simple argument on 'functionality' but I still don't see the point of them unless you are a cf'er

    if you're doing them smoothly it shouldn't stress out the shoulder any more than a regular pull up
