for what the killers do (poppy nu-wave-disco-punk) i would say they're at the top of the game. Check out "bloc party" for sure though. they're pretty damn great. Also, "dogs die in hot cars" has a somewhat similar sound. Be warned that their singer has a rather obnoxious voice though.

All of those bands owe everything to Joy Division, if you like that sound find the original stuff.

while this is true, most killers fans won't appreciate the simple beauty that is joy division/stone roses/happy mondays/gang of four

Bloc party is the new hollister. Great band, but too many poser fans that don't appreciate them.

Hmm let's see. Killers-esque? Try these:
    Spoon - Gimme Fiction
Interpol - Turn Off the Bright Lights (agree with that one)
    Broken Social Scene
    Constantines - Tournament of Hearts
and check out the new Gorillaz cd too just because you should.

There are plenty of better bands out there than killers, but it's a good band to be introduced to when dealing with that genre.

the smiths are awesome, brand new's deja entendu imitates and pulls off a lot of the smiths distinctive sounds.

Minus the Bear-The Fix (favorite band, anything by them)

Be sure to check out Action Action-Drug Like or This Years Fashion
    and The Faint-Galss Danse

Checked out the ones you told me about, Whitesox. I really really like Minus The Bear. Awesome guitar in their songs. Can't really say I liked the others. Too "spacy".

Thanks guys. I have some new favorite bands now.

jesus. The killers are horrible. I cant wait for this generation to realize that. This is in NO way punk. I predict in a few years there will be a rise of new music that hates on this shit.

    I don't consider them punk.

The music that hates on this kind of music will suck.

    Bloc Party owns everbody, though.
