[Thats what the firearms guy told me today at Gander Mountain.] That shotty was only 200 bucks, sounds pretty cheap. 22 inch barrel.

ive never even heard of it. anyone have any experience with this shotgun?

no, the rem 870 is the best shotgun ever made. It's so fucking reliable, simple as can be, and it has sooooo many accessories available.

Were you standing or grabbing your ankles while he was blowing that smoke up your ass?

I think thats the shotgun I use for hunting. I've never had a problem with it and in fact love that it is much lighter ithan my father's Ithaca. But as others will tell you the Remington 870 is the better choice.

both the 590 and 870 are great shottys. I have choosen the rem and i think that is the correct choice. For choosing the "best" I say 870. But you can't really go wrong with either.

    I have a Moss 500 and a Rem 870. Both are badass.

I like the safety on the Moss better and it's overall look, but I like the action release switch on the 870s a lot more.

i was handling the mossberg and it has alot of play in the pump, i dont know what its called. the part where you pump it, kinda rattles, the rem on the other hand didnt. is that part of the design?

I have 2 Ithaca's and they are both niiiice even though they are both over 50 years old. I wanted to buy a new one before they were all sold but I still haven't foudn one.... :( Ionno about the Deerslayer but I have heard excellent things about them, I'm a big fan of the regular model 37.

Oh, and heck yes on the slamfire!!

Why doesn't anyone mention Winchester 1300's in these threads?

that's the point. The mossberg and remington as inexpensive, reliable, and versatile. They also have buttloads of accessories, and everyone is very familiar with them so getting parts/service is very easy.

Unless a product meets a need not addressed by one of those two shottys, then get the more-common product.
