Read this eloquent and profound piece and pay close attention to the last paragraph of the article...

    The man has a point.

The problem is, what do you do when one person is packing a revolver and the other is packing a modified full-auto Glock with an extended clip?

(shrug) As far as I knew, it was. Doesn't TNT burn smokeless, unlike black powder?

It's just a question. It could happen, however unlikely it might be.

Yes, I do. It would really help if you just said what you think is so funny.

i think its funny that you believe there is a chance someone would conceal carry a glock 18. the fact that you believe this led me to say that you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about :wavey:

Then, I guess you haven't seen Magpul's folding full-auto, based around a modified Glock 9mm, with an extended clip. It can fit in your back pocket. Check on Youtube.

Yes, I know it's just a prototype right now. But it demonstrates that such a thing is technologically feasible, which means eventually someone, somewhere, will have one. Such is life.

    EDIT: Click here for vid.

its not a clip, its a magazine. what you linked is not the folding glock stock. the magpul folding thing would be an SBR if it existed, technically not a handgun at all. and the magpul thing is not full-auto
and the "extended magazine" is not a feature of the gun, this is an option that individual users have available to them.

    anything else?

    TNT doesn't burn.

Sorry I used the wrong term for "rectangular bullet holder thingy".

It's not full-auto? What's even the point, then?

Well, regardless of whether Magpul did it or not, this video seems to suggest that it is possible to make it work in full-auto mode. And you can always remove the stock that the demonstrator has attached.

Look, can we get past the semantic bullshit and address the question I asked? What if one person is substantially better-armed than another? Yeah, the guy with the revolver still only needs to get off one good shot to "disable" the other guy, but the other guy stands a much better chance of getting off that one good shot on account of being able to squeeze off rounds about 25x faster. What happens to the supposed equality of armed individuals then?

Burning and exploding are both forms of oxidization. The difference is explosives burn fast enough to produce a shockwave.

You're thinking about it too hard.

One shot from any firearm can be fatal.

TNT does not oxidize. It is a high order explosion meaning that it experiences a high speed chemical decomposition.

For TNT in particular, it is this exothermic reaction:

    2 C7H5N3O6 → 3 N2 + 5 H2O + 7 CO + 7 C

Well shit. :( That explains why nitroglycerin is so unstable in liquid form, if it doesn't need to oxidize at all.

At least I was right about it being smokeless.

So what do bullets use for propellant, if not TNT?

There are many types of smokeless powder.

well, the point of it being not full-auto is that it would be possible for the average citizen to own one. newly manufactured full-auto firearms are not legal for private ownership.
and these glock-stock devices are illegal unless you have the paperwork for a short-barreled rifle.

but beyond the discussion of this item, different people chose different weapons. someone can equally protect them self with a revolver or a semi-auto and the proper training.

you need to stop spouting off all this wildly theoretical bullshit about people shooting at each other. if a legally carrying individual comes up against a armed mugger, i seriously doubt that you need to worry about the firearm skills of the mugger.
