I think that Tom Hanks and Russell Crowe are incredible actors and are my favorites I think Hank's work in Road to Perdition and in Saving Private Ryan was powerful and moving they are incredible.......I also think that Crowe's work in Master and Commander the Far Side of the World and Gladiator was just amzing and inspiring and passionate......I too someday hope to become an actor........These are my favorite actors and they are impressive and just magnificent..........

Crowe is good but overrated. Hanks is a good actor, no argument here, but there are better actors.

    Deniro for instance.

equilibrium? cant be though, because that movie was much better than the matrix garbage.

Tom Hanks is good, but russell crowe isnt, everytime i watch a movie with russell crowe in it he never seems to sell the character. Tom Hanks can do it, Denzel can do it, Johnny Depp can do it better than anyone going right now but Russell Crowe just doesnt have it. Russell Crowe played captain Jack Aubrey, Johnny Depp became captain Jack Sparrow. There's a world of difference.

He was great as SiD 6.7 though but Denzel clearly outshined him in that also.

i agree with bryan, some actors can just go into any role and fulfill that role perfectly... Whether you see some1 doing action/romance/comedy/drama/thriller movies and they pull those off all equally well, you know they have skill...

Two things: 1. concerning Equilibrium:Fahrenheit 451 with guns. Its a big budget knock off. Its cool, but if you like 451, this destroys it. 2. concerning The Matrix: it is oppresively cerebral. If people would take the time to look into them (not as an action movie) they are extremely worth while to watch.

De Niro is a character actor, as in the guy has ONE character

"De Niro is a character actor, as in the guy has ONE character"

If you've only seen Casino, Goodfellas, and Heat I might be able to understand how you would come to that conclusion... but the man has been in so many great movies.

Compare his roles in Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy, Godfather II, Deer Hunter, Midnight Run, and This Boy's Life. To say that he plays the same character in all of them is asinine.

Back to the topic at hand:

Bob Hoskins is a great actor. (See Mona Lisa or The Long Good Friday if you can find them)
