She fails to see the need for a gun. She hates that I have a shotgun. She hates that I'm buying a handgun. She states she doesn't need a gun, that her parents have never needed a gun. She claims that you can solve the need for a gun buy picking a better neighborhood to move into. She claims if we were to get married and have kids that I'd have to have two safes, one for the bullets and one for the guns. I informed her that police response time is incredibly high and that I wouldn't ask the robber / rapist / scumbag to wait until they arrive to commence a felony.

I'm trying to explain that it's better to have and not need than need and not have. I asked why she doesn't throw her spare tire away , that it's not needed. I explained that I've never needed a spare tire, as I've never had a flat. I explained that my first vehicle, a jeep, didn't even have a spare tire, and I never needed one then either. I stated, that besides - if you're worried about a flat tire, why don't you just trade in your car for a better / more reliable / more expensive car, so you don't have that problem. Still , she fails to give.

    Anyone else have this problem?

Nope :nono: Way too attached for anything that drastic. I think i'm just going to teach her about what I have and how to shoot so she understands that Locked in a safe with a magazine inserted w/ no round in the chamber is not dangerous.

  6. She shows an inability to apply obvious logic to a simple and plausible situation. Further, when you attempt to lead her to a conclusion by describing relevant and reasonable analogies, she is either unwilling to concede she is wrong, or unable to understand she is wrong. Either way, this does not bode well for a long term commitment. Get a new GF.

I bet she'll be kissing your ass when our economy finally collapses and your weapons are your only means to feed her instead of pimping her ass out to the zombies.

grow some balls, jesus fuck it's your GIRLFRIEND not your wife, it's not like she controls your finances

better yet, i retract these comments

you aren't cut out for the maturity, and emotional stability that is required in gun ownership, simply put, if you place value on her input in the situation, you shouldn't get one

also, move to california, you'll fit right in

  10. I think we'd be better able to assess this situation if we had some sort of visual representation of your GF. Perhaps some pics are in order.

What I do is watch all kinds of home invasion/scary movies where the people would have been saved had they had a gun.

Mind you, my Fiance likes guns, but this helps me convince her that we need more.

I never said anything about it swaying my decision to purchase. obviously, you've never lived or had a real relationship with a woman if you honestly think that the "I'm a man I'll do what I damn well please" statement ever really works. It's called keeping the peace with a headstrong woman.

No no , I'm not asking permission to buy one. I'm trying to convince her it's a good idea to have them in the house loaded ready for use. When things progress, it's a valid issue that will come up. Guns in the house, loaded or unloaded. What if kids find them, etc. How will they be stored, to prevent a kid from blowing his own head off. Working this out ahead of time - better than having a real big fight about it later.

i'm bragging about being married? i am rather proud of having a set of balls that allow me to tell a woman about my purchases rather than ask her for permission

but then again, I don't share every purchase I make with others, including those closest to me

a LOT of people do this these days

Kill your fiancee with said gun you aren't suppose to have, you'll feel better about all of this in the morning.

It's your money, don't let your gf tell you how to spend it. Lock up your guns, and there's no problem.

My gun purchases usually go one of two ways...

    1. A month before XMas or my birthday she'll just flat out ask "okay, what gun do you want?"

    2. Bring home the gun and go "hey honey, check out my new gun" her: "looks like your other gun" me: "sorta like your shoes, jackets and bags rite?" me=win
