The Ford F-150 11,000lb towing capacity claim bothers me.

I'm a Ford man but I'm in love with the Tundra.

Go build and price a Tundra, you'll find this:

Reese weight distribution hitch bar-Max Hitch Wt. 1200 lbs.; Max GTW 12,000 lbs. (DI11)
    $341 MSRP*

    F-150 isn't the only half ton that'll do 11k.

I'm sure people are eyeing up that 11k trailer for the trip from NY to AZ right now.

The Tundra looks like shit and you're an idiot if you tow 11k with a 1/2 ton.

The old C/K Suburban would do 10k. Shit, the old S10 would do a bit over 6k when properly equipped.

11k isn't really a problem with 1/2 ton trucks today. The way they're built is pretty solid compared to older trucks. Bigger, stronger frames and better suspension combined with strong motors.

It's going to take a toll on it with the quickness though.

maybe. I'd be most concerned with the transmission and I wouldn't attempt it on stock tires.

Jut becuase they can tow doesn't mean it will do it for a long time or safely.

With the teams of lawyers working for big companies, I'd be willing to bet the 11k rating you see is probably underrated. Always play it safe = don't get sued
