    There's about 3.5 months between these pics... I see a little improvement, but my body is obviously still a disaster and I have a long way to go.

    right now my stats are:


    5'9"
    175lbs
    guessing about 20%bf


    my lifts are
    bench: 160x5
    squat: 195x5
    deadlift: 240x5


    I think I am going to keep gaining weight untilI hit about 180 to low 180s... then i am going to cut down to 160-165 and start gaining lean mass properly from there... I have always heard that the lower bf% you start at, the higher percentage of muscle you win gain when you gain weight.

    At first I thought the first two pictures were the same. Then I noticed they were slightly different and I started playing spot the differences.

    changes a bit day to day but this is pretty much it

    on a workout day


    wakeup - scoop of ON whey, can of tuna, 1 cup of oats, glass of milk


    2pm - footlong meatball sub at subway, with cookies hehe

    2-7pm - chomping on my giant can of mixed nuts

    7pm - fish and rice (good portion)

    8:30 - workout

    9:30 - PWO shake (2 scoops of ON whey, 1 scoop of gatorade powder)


    1am - can of dinty moore beef stew

    Not to be an ass, but not going to sugar coat it either. Not enough progress for three months. Lets find out why and fix it :bigthumb:

    MWF split

    monday - chest/tris

    flat bb bench 4x5
    incline db bench 3x8-10
    flies 3x8-10

    close grip bench 3x8-10
    tri pushdowns 3x8-10


    wednesday - back bis

    Deadlifts - 4x5
    db rows 3x8
    lat pulldown 3x8-10

    straight bar curls 3x8-10
    db curls 3x8-10


    friday - legs shoulders
    db military 3x8-10
    db side lateral 3x8-10

    squat 4x5
    leg press 3x8-10
    leg curls 3x8-10

    im guessing that the majority of my "progress" has been made mostly in the last month or so, i've upped my caloric intake during that time

    it's only been 3 months :hsugh: you're not gonna see huge progress in just 3 months. You can only gain like 7-12 lbs of lean muscle mass in a year without AAS what do you expect him to look like in just 3 months? Fucking Jay Cutler?

    what do you guys think of my plan of going up to 180-185 and then cutting down to 160-165?

    I know that I have little muscle as it is and losing weight seems kind of ridiculous, but I've always been a skinny guy, and I don't feel so comfortable with this belly :hs:

    noob gains, would have expected more visual differences. you can see the traps coming up a little.

    try tl diplomats posted routine. if it seems like too many sets for you still, the try your same routine like this:

    mon: chest/tri's
    tues: back/bi
    wed: legs shoulders
    thurs: chest tri's
    fri: back bi's
    weekends off.

    ps. everyone will tell you to bulk, but i think your 185 cut back down plan seems like a good one.

    how much weight have you gained since the before pics? and do you know about how much of it was gained in the past month or so?

    Yea, it looks like your traps have grown

    smb, have you used this routine? I might pick it up for this semester at school. Although legs and shoulders only get hit once a week, and those are my weak points

    I wouldn't go drastic on the calories though, just increase it fractionally. You are carrying a bit of bf as is.

    you're 5'9? id say no. you wont have much muscle mass in a 10 pound increase to cut down to 160 and look good, you'll just be skinny. just keep eating sleeping and lifting til you're bigger and you learn your body more and then decide from there

    subway is not the end of the world, sometimes ya gotta eat what ya can, don't go nuts with the calories, try a little more for a month, come back, and see if you got fatter or just biger...

    true .. at 160 and 5'9 he'll look skinny .. to a broli .. but the rest of the world .. he'll look fairly big .. if he wants to bulk up .. he needs a lot more muscle .. id say maybe bulking up to 2 bills .. then going down to 175-180 at or around a decent body fat .. but i dunno if he knows the real way to bulk .. its not just eating like a fat ass until you get to a certain weight .. its a shit ton of work .. dedication etc .. i was 5'7 160 and thought i was decently large for my size .. i was wrong as fuck .. i went down to 145 and felt fairly ripped .. skinny as hell .. ya .. but in better shape then I had ever been .. and looked larger than i ever did at any other weight ..

    you have to shed a shit ton of weight .. get to a point that you never would've thought .. then push it from there .. you have to get to a nasty base .. in order to bulk up to a different weight
