Theyre so cheesey, childish and shock value its not even funny...The names dont demand respect.

Clearly UFC isn't ULTIMATE, because ULTIMATE would be no rules, right? And not in a ring...but ANYWHERE..yeah yeah it wont happen but their name is silly.
"Elite XTREME COMBAT"? a.k.a. Mortal Kombat? I mean what the shit, seriously how stupid is that..90s video game names much? I dont think it's respectable..I remember when a lot of athletes from the X-Games were happy they took the word X-treme out of it (tony hawk) because it just wasnt honorable...Those kinds of names exist just for attention, which is bullshit...and which is why most pros and people who train serious call it mma.

So if you were to start a promotion you'd call it "MMA?"

Also, if EliteXC was trying to be like Mortal Kombat, wouldn't it be EliteXK?

ask yourself could YA MAMMA PIT FIGHT?

I can smile when its raining.
I'm going to name my promotion "Two Consenting Men Fighting in a 4 sided boxing ring, using a mutlitude of combat arts, with rules restricting certain strikes and maneuvers." That wont be shocking.

People don't want to watch something with a boring name. Whats the point in having names for pro sports teams? The Cubs? The Bulls? The Blackhawks? Do the names have anything to do with the product? No. They exist to lend a commercial identity to the product. You have to have something to discernably and immediately differentiate yourself from your competitors and from other related fields.
