Is that they've lost their sense of speed. Manufacturers have become so good at engineering massive limits into easy-to-drive performance cars that they no longer have the white-knuckle experience of less powerful, clumsier cars of 25 years ago. They're so well-mannered and so difficult to upset that the massive handling limits and electronic aids have rendered so many cars sterile despite their superb performance abilities compared to their predecessors.

    Who else agrees?

And I'll always prefer a muscle car or pony car to a sports car.

A performance car loses its edge once it is no longer "raw" on some level. It's supposed to be a bit dangerous to push the limits in. It's part of the thrill.

I think Porsche should reintroduce massive lag and RWD in their Turbos.

The Viper is a failure of excess. I've driven one and didn't like it.

The majroty of sports cars today are souless machines made for general public consumption. They are not geared towards any one niche of people, but rather general masses.

It's still a car with massive limits that also becomes a massively dangerous car at the limits. I can appreciate it for what it is (And I don't really give it a fair shake) but it's not the car for me.

Driving an E55 is a funny thing. The car couldn't make 500 horsepower more boring. I'd love to take long trips in it but in the sense of being anything other than a mechanical road bullet with heated seats, it fails.
