I pinned on today. Incredibly exciting.

My father, Lt Col, retired, swore me in, and pinned me on - with my fathers old rank, along with my mother, and my fiancee.
The ceremony was a joint service, only 3 of us between both the Army and Air Force ROTC side. You can see in one of the photo's my dad gave me a placard with all of his original ranks on them.

I hate those comments, and I am coming from a family where my dad is a SFC (retired).

You get shitty officers and shitty enlisted soldiers, rank doesn't discriminate when it comes to stupidity.

Yes, he is. Academy Grad, Pilot for 26 years.

ROTC, like OCS but spread over 4 years (in my case, 4.5) while in college. There are also 1,2,and 4 year programs, but the 1,2 year programs are harder to get accepted. You go to Field Training for 6 weeks instead of 4. (like basic, between sophmore and junior year usually)

    Cocky, because I'm excited? :ugh:

    - At ease soldier, thats an order :eek3::mamoru:

No, I'm not a jackass elitist officer. I have many friends who are enlisted, and my father taught me well. Actually the NCOIC who gave me my first salute said that she would love to work 'for me'. As it is right now I know that I know nothing.

Actually I had a nightmare the other day about my first duty station - I didn't know what the hell was going on and nobody would help me :o

    :salute: thanks :)

Even though I despise most Air Force officers I've met, if they're on OT, then they're  in my book. Congrats!

You have an ORB over your name tag?

Did you have someone in your family with the last name pass during combat or recently?

    Orbs = Paranormal noise

Both of my grandmothers have died in the last 8 years.

My grandfather, a civilian in the Army, passed before my parents were even born. My other grandfather, a Lt Col in the Army, retired, is still around however.

Nobody has passed in combat though.

I earned a degree in Information Systems and Operations Management.

The IS is all about networking, network security, database design & stuff, a little bit of programming, etc.

the OM part covered supply chain management, Logistics management stuff.

You either have a focus on the IS or the OM, I focused on the IS.

OMG, really? Thats so strange - I would too! ;)

    Thanks.

    Thanks everyone.

Now, tell me what you hate about officers, besides the obviousness of being an elitist, so I make sure I don't do that.
