    is this kind of technology something that needs to be built in on the sensor? I see that it says it captures the total light or some shit like that. I would think that any camera that would have this ability would require a special sensor or a sensor made for this type of technology.

    Read about this 3 or 4 years ago.

    It requires a micro-lens array in front of the image sensor and a rather complex algorithm to determine not only the amount of light, but the direction from which it came AKA the "light field".

    I think it's pretty cool, but I think it will be many years before you'll get critically sharp pictures from refocusing technologies.
