    ... I'm re-ripping my cd collection with xAct (basically a Mac version of EAC) and encoding with iTunes-LAME 3.97, V0 (VBR). Anyone else doing this? :embd:

    And not necessarily for uploading purposes, mostly because I heard a sound quality difference vs. the 192k AAC files I ripped and encoded with iTunes. Maybe it's the better ripping program, but this sounds much better with not a whole lot more file size. Pretty damn transparent to the original.

    i use apple lossless. then you can transcode all day from the lossless format

    it seems too much of a pain in the ass to have lossless and lossy files in the same itunes library. sync'ing to an ipod seems like it would be a hassle ...

    or i suppose i could get an external drive for a Lossless archive ...
