Thanks to Milo's Bodybuilding.com videos I'm now repping 315 on Bench

    My form was horrible, my shoulders always hurt, I could never get past 245. After watching and applying my bench shot up. I'm now repping 315x5-6 pain free. It meant a lot to me so I thought I'd tip anyone else off that needs a boost in that area.

    hey man, good job, all you have to do is improve form and you can go up quite a few good pounds

    milos form was meant for building muscle mass.

    im sure there are better variations on the bench than his. *powerlifters*


    but the point is your making progress, gj:bigthumb:

    Lemme see if I can find it. I was mostly discouraged because of the involvement of my shoulders. Isolating the pec and arching the back more lead to a much greater focus on my tris/pecs which helped immensely.

    Yeah, it sounds like a cheesy testimonial, but it really helped me out and I'm pretty experienced. Thought I'd share what helped me.

    IIRC, he has you flare your arms out to hit the pecs better. This is the easiest way of getting hurt benching... aside from having a bar slam into your chest.

    Uhh :ugh2:

    What I got from it was to keep elbows in, pin your scapulas back, bring the bar lower on your chest (rather than up by your neck, and keep the back arched plus drive with your feet. It's probably a mixture of everyones advice, but whatever it was, it worked.

    Sounds pretty much like powerlifter bench form. Did he also tell you to spread your legs and move your feet back towards you to assist in developing an arch and giving better leg drive?

    well, then i guess I shouldn't have dismissed it on principle....I just assumed it would be a "elbows out feet on the bench, make sure to go super duper slow on the way up so you feel the burn" type of advice.

    did we watch the same video? In the vid he states to keep the elbows out chest up and keep the back arched.

    Yeah in the Milos vid he says do the rep slowly focusing on using the pecs with your elbows wide and shit.

    I might've mixed in other people's advice. But it was Milo's video that fully made me aware that my form was holding me back the most.
