I asked a couple of weeks ago for suggestions for stuff and this is what I ended up buying and kept under my 1300 budget

Antec sonata case in piano black
    120mm Antec case fan
    Asus a7n8x Deluxe
    AMD XP 2500
    Vantec cpu fan
    WD 120GB HD
    2 Corsair 512MB pc3500
    LITE-ON dvd
    Toshiba DVD burner
    Floppy drive
    Asus GF4 TI4200
    Hansol 19" CRT

Finally got a chance to put things together and 2 hours later, I have my first built computer with XP Pro installed. Thanks for the help

Sounds like a great system. How do you like the sonata case? Is it really as quiet as it's supposed to be?

Cool. With RAM at that speed, are you looking to overclock, or just future-proofing it?

Nice system man. You people are going to push me over the edge and I am going to have to build myself a new system this summer. :sad2: Well, my current setup is 2 years old. :big grin:

my old system was 5 years old...gateway p2 350 with 192mb of ram. It was definately time for me to upgrade.

the case is quieter than my old case. Fans you can hear, but it's nothing that bothers me.

Right now it's OC'ed to fsb 200 and multiplier of 10. Temp is 37 C, but haven't really got it cooking, just mainly Internet browsing. May oc some more after I actually get a chance and play with it. Work is really killing my free time.

All in all, it wasn't as difficult as I thought and definately more fun than I anticipated. Actually got the gf to help and her brother wants to build a system after seeing the price and final outcome of mine.
