I still think its a fucking awesome deal. I was originally planning to get the Knights Armament RAS, but it doesnt lock up as solidly as i would have liked. Then I heard about the Daniel Defense Omega Rail, which is pretty fucking awesome. The only downsides IMHO is that it gives a monolithic appearance (which I personally can't stand), and it's quite pricey.

The Troy MRF-DI does what the RAS an Omega Rail both do and for about half the cost.

btw, i asked DD at SHOT if they were planning to release a "gen 2" without the monolithic extension.

    They said no

why the hell are UTG products so cheap? Made overseas?

With firearms stuff, I try to stick with USA made products. :o :hsughno:

dunno. I bought it at a local shop.. And as far as my priorities lie, I'd rather support local stores over online... And yea I prefer USA over foreign, but it's not super-important.

I like the Daniel Defense LITE system cuz it bolts up flush and makes a continuous top rail, but I dunno if that Troy system can be beat for the price.

another elitist prick. I looked the product over before purchasing it and it was a SOLID well-machined part. I couldn't find any difference between it and the Surefire RAS that I also own. I couldn't see the diffence between either of those and a YHM RAS that is well-regarded as a cost-effective mounting solution. Heck, the YHM compares as almost identical to rails 3x it's own cost.

It's a piece of aluminum... They cut it to spec. Unless they do a poor job machining it (they didn't) or they use shitty metal (as far as I can tell by beating on it, they didn't) then all you're doing is throwing money away on a "brand".

I am 100% happy with my UTG RAS.

It's one thing to pay more for better quality... but it's completely different to play the elitist brand-prick-game.
