shit has been bugging the hell out of me...
...chimping away after a shot with off-camera speedlights... and they magically turn off after a few minutes of inactivity (1min to be exact).

So i finally wised up and looked in the owners manual and saw the custom function to disable auto turn-off.

Hold down C.Fn button for ~2seconds to access.

    580ex
C.Fn 1: Automatic Cancel of FEB
    Enable: 0
    Disable: 1

    C.Fn 14: Automatic Power Down
    ON: 0
    OFF: 1

    430ex
C.Fn 14: Auto power off activation
    ON: 0
    OFF: 1

    ALSO
if you want to set them to full manual within Slave mode, hold down the Mode button for ~2 seconds
    FREEDOM!!!!!

:werd: There's also a CF to set the pilot light to act as a modeling light. I use it quite a bit.

I've always gotten around the auto off by switching the level over to slave, but that CFn is nice to know about. Will have to set mine.

i think every 580ex owner figured this out by reading the manual 2 minutes into working with their wireless triggers...
