anyone got a script to show text over an image when you move your mouse over it?

wanna have a text or mysql to hold the information and display it over the image when you move your mouse over it.

I think he wants the text to display immediately on the actual image not a little pop-up as a mouse action when the mouse is held over for a short period of time without movement.

im not sure what you mean. if its the little popup window, that's using the alt function.

if you mean physically on the image, you might need to use a rollover in combination with GD library. Or you can just photoshop in the text yourself and use a rollover :dunno:

    like this:

when i mouseover the image, I want it to pull text from mysql and show it on top of the image.

only thing I found so far is a css trick, which basically move the text over the image when you mouse over it (which kind suck since you can see the text at the bottom of the screen). and I would have to input the text after each pic manually.

Ahh you could use a normal mouseover with a modded php watermarking script.

you can do an onmouseover to change one of two things:

    1) change a nested div from display:none; to display:block.

    2) change the text color from white to black. I do it on my site to change the color of the border and text color. You can check it out on www.dev.xubees.com and just change around the onmouseover code.

*Only problem with number two is that if you have an all black image (for example) you'd have the opposite effect that you're looking for... the only logical solution would be to put a white padding on the top and bottom and then force the text to stay confined to the padding... the first way i mentioned would be the way to go, just google something like "show div on mouse hover"... something like THIS SITE would prolly help you out

I kinda get what you're saying, but i'm confused on the blank.gif to text transition.
Basically you're saying to use a blank gif as a trigger to show the text?

the problem I have is trying to have the text appear in it's place.

edit: yes, figured it out :bigthumb:

the span did the trick, didn't even need the blank.gif.
