I ended up setting up an outdoor photoshoot w/ a chick I've known since high school, and since I've never really done people pictures, I took a friend out yesteday to find some locations and take some test shots before the real deal. I wasn't very impressed with what I got out of the just over 100 pics I took, especially for full-body shots. All shot w/ 70-200mm f/4L. Any tips, help, comments, etc would be great.

your settings are often ruined by the playground in the bg. you need to get some fill light in some of those... either a flash or a reflector to get some more light on your subject that what's going on in the background, i.e. photos 2, and 3... your background is brighter than your subject. i'm not gonna mention poses, cause i suspect that that's not what the point of this was.

you might want to work on your PP when you get to the final shots, everything looks bland and very snapshotish as well.

Any tips on PP (or an example using one of my pics)? I didn't do much, but they were def. more bland/dull in the before pics.

He was just there as something to focus on so I could practice for my real photoshoot w/ a chick sometime in the next week or two.

try squatting. I've always been told that your lens should not be any higher that the chest when doing full frame poses. remember that you see things standing upright all the time. Change the angle to make it different and stand out a little.

its a picture of someone standing with 0 expression. that could be anyone and the photo would be uneventful. my only advice would be to visualize a few shots before you take the pictures with this girl. your friend looks progressively more bored as the set goes on so i can only assume you were standing there clicking away, giving him no direction other than "ok now sit here"

its like throwing a bunch of paint at a canvas and expecting it to form into a masterpiece. you're the artist; COMPOSE the image. it won't happen otherwise.

    and shave that mustache.
