My buddy wants to sell me his 05' GSX-R 750 for 8K. It has 4,XXX miles on the chasis and 2,XXX on the motor. He told me the first owner was supposedly doing long wheelies and drained all the oil out the motor hence the reason of it having a new motor. (I in no way completly believe this story)

All persons I've spoke with have told me to stay away from bikes that don't have matching numbers. I just want to know why :dunno:.

Few pics of the bike from his myspace:

if the previous owner was running long enough wheelies to drain the motor dry, think how the rest of the components of the bike were treated, not only neglect, but stunting abuse. fork seals may be trashed too

That's what I was thinking as for as getting an 06'. The other day my buddy told me he's dropping 3K worth of parts in to the bike. Which has made me reconsider. I'm still not sure what I want to do :hsd:.

    I need more input guys.

    Didn't think about that.

    Think of it this way.

Would you buy a Civic Si from some ricer "friend" of yours. That didnt have matching Vins, and had a enw engine "becuase the last guy who owned it drag raced it and fucked the engine up"?

Hell no you wouldent! It shouldent be any different with a bike, then with a car. Infact, it should be even MORE SO with a bike then a car, for the simple fact that it quiter literally IS your skin thats on the line.

I think that is what you should DEFINITELY do. Why pay that much for a bike that's been beat to shit when you can get a brand new one for just a little more?

well the part about blowing the engine while riding long ass wheelies is correct. B/C the oil pump is on top when your doing a wheelie. Where is all the oil?? It's in the bottom of the oil pan. Oil pump that can't pickup oil = blown engine.

We know, we aren't disputing whether the engine got replaced. We're just saying that if it has been abused to the point where the engine had to be replaced, how good of a condition could the rest of the bike be in?

    Reason #1...."my buddy"

How are you two going to feel in a month when something breaks and you pay $1000 to fix it and the shop tells you the problem was caused by the previous owner?

    Buying from a friend........:nono:

i would not buy that for 8k.....for 8k you might as well buy a brand new 06 600, or wait a few months and buy a new 07
