    for 900 bucks or less

all I want is a 14" screen, ~100GB HD and be able to download and burn movies and wireless internet

    what do you recommend?

Widescreen is overrated. It's only good for watching movies. 4:3 is better for just about everything else, especially tasks involving documents.

At any rate, the normal recommendations are: Lenovo and Asus. There's a third brand, but I forget the name.

I do a lot of authoring (work :hsd:) and widescreen rocks for having two docs side-by-side. He also specifically mentioned movies so I'm guessing he's going to end up watching some on the laptops.

Either way, with a $900 budget, there's no reason to get a 14" screen.

I love my widescreen - would never want to go back to 4:3 on a laptop (I do use a 19" 4:3 at work with it). It's SOOO much friendlier to fly with.

Power consumption on hp's dv6000 series is ridiculous.
