Uh, cant you just use a certain disc (think it was zelda?) and a thumb drive to crack em?

You can do this and use some sort of Wii Loader which I think works with lots of games. Not tried it yet.. I need to get Zelda.

Zelda doesnt work anymore. New Wii's will have the 4.0 update and that prevents the Zelda hack from being used. Right now your only option is to get a chip and mod that way. The people who found the zelda hack have a new exploit to use instead of zelda but nothing has been released yet.

That's why they invented downgrading. It's still possible, bro.

from what i hear downgrading a wii is difficult as fuck. besides if theres a new exploit already found and just being worked on at the moment theres no point to downgrading.

Further if youre that fucking impatient you can just buy a wii key that clips onto the motherboard and you'll still be able to do everything that a softmod does, maybe more.

Softmad (zelda hack) only runs games at 3x. Modchips are 6x. With 3x you will experience some slow down and weird shit going on in certain games. The easiest way to mod it is to get a DriveKey. It's compatible with all Wii versions and it's 100% solderless.

if you're gonna softmod, make sure the serial# is before LU64xxxxxxxx . It's more than likely you will not be able to softmod with ease at this time seeing as people are still working out all the kinks. Also it's more than likely you'll be stuck with the above mentioned 4.0 firmware which is also being worked on. However if you do get a pre LU64xxxxxx model then you'll more than likely have firmware 3.3 or 3.4 which can be downgraded to put in all the goodies like pre-loader/starfall/wiigator/homebrew and so on. If you need a place that has a wealth of information, I typically use gbatemp.net but I assure you that their are TONS of sources where you can get information.

If you're lazy like me, just use softmii.org. Currently this group is preparing "Softmii 3.0" which is an all inclusive package that will downgrade and install everything with ease. They do have previous versions out with full tutorials.

Downgrading takes 10 minutes tops. I only just started Wii-Modding, and it's still way simpler than XBox modding. The hardest part is just getting all the files neccessary, but here's the step-by-step 10 step guide to downgrading...

I just opened mine and put a solderless chip over a chip. Then you put in a NTSC game if you're going to play NTSC burned games, or PAL if Pal Burned, it just works.

I think you can even burned scrubbed games that are small enough to CD or you can make multi-game discs.

It seems DVD-R's work better than DVD+R's. Not sure why, but it seems most sites recommend DVD-R's

Buy/Rent Zelda Twilight. Download some files to an SD Card. Insert Zelda. Load it to after it creates the save data. Turn it off. Load SD Card with neccessary files. Insert SD Card. Delete Zelda Save data on system. Copy system save from SD Card to System Save. Play Zelda. Load 1st game save (on some you rarely have to use the 2nd game save). Move backwards in Zelda. Linux runs.

    BAM! Fingers in the pussy.
