Went to a photo store last night but the fucking Arab owner wanted 799 CASH PRICE ONLY for it, 899 to swipe my card..

Took some sample pics with it and it looked nice, nice and wide.

Your thoughts on this lens, if you use it please.

If they take Visa you can report them to Visa for this.

In the merchant agreement with Visa they are not allowed to charge a different price to use a credit card vs cash transaction (I would piss on them by calling up Visa). Visa actually takes this pretty seriously and will yank either their merchant license for transactions or give them a fine (they ask you for your suggestion at the end of the call).

Secondly l33tpilot might be interested in selling his.

might wanna ping him, if you are looking nikon that is.

I didn't know they can get in trouble since gas stations have that gas/credit price too.

It's by FAR the best wide angle for cropped bodies, nothing comes close.

There must be some loop hole on this...

I think they have to phrase it as a "discount for cash purchase" rather than a "charge for cc purchase". All the same in the end...

No loop hole, just people fail to report them. They think they are getting a discount passed on by the station by using cash (some times they are some times they aren't) so they accept it as a reward...

Ordered it from Amazon for $660. Local photo stores in S Fl are horrible and do not carry a lot of lenses. Can't wait until I get it!

yeah i agree. i had the tokina 12-24. it was soft. i returned it and got another one. it was also soft. the 11-16 is a lot sharper.

holding on to mine for now, even though the tamron 17-50 sees a lot more love lately.

only real competitor is the canon 10-22, but the tokina is cheaper (in theory) and a constant 2.8

The fine runs $500 for merchants that charge 25c to swipe a VISA. You can get them fucked hard. I'm pretty sure there is no loophole.

well you were using it. i would expect you to get better pics on the kit 18-55 than me on the nikon 24-70 2.8. :eek3:

it just didnt do it for me. not to mention both lenses are slightly soft wide open. i felt the 12-24 needed 5.6 for sharpness and the 11-16 needs f/4.

these 4 pics come to mind. took these inside concentration camp housing units in Berlin. I absolutely needed a wide angle at 2.8. the rooms were tight as hell and the lighting was absolutely terrible.

all at 2.8 and iso 1600

what are your thoughts on that combo? i felt i would miss 17-28 a lot more than 50-75. do you find yourself missing under 28mm?

amateurs don't use gold ring lenses, you'll blow your shutter to pieces.

Besides if you owned the 24-70 you would not make such a statement.
