The concept of a Mini 14 and "target rifle" in the same sentence is beyond me. Go with an AR if you're wanting something with accuracy and is fun to plink.

these rifles remind me of those honda civics that are riced to hell and back and still get beaten by a GTO

i bet a nicely build AR15 is just as accurate

A lot of people hate on mini-14s. They arn't terrible guns by any means but you may be better off with an AR-15. :dunno: personal preference I guess.

Dunno... Marines have reinstituted the m-14 as squad sharpshooter rifles. Mini 14 uses basically the same action but in .223 as opposed to the m-14's .308. Supposed to be a pretty acurate weapon. Dunno what, if any, improvements to accuracy are involved with the ar-15 vs mini-14 actions.

They're not that close. Mini-14 is not known for its accuracy while the M14 makes a pretty good designated marksman rifle on its own. I imagine that some of the design changes that made it the Mini-14 hurt accuracy in the name of cost savings.

what i really wanted to know about was the target version that is supposed to be very accurate... I already know alot of this about the regular mini 14.

does anyone know anything about the target version?

Well... AR-15's are the "civics" that are riced to hell. Plus when it comes to accuracy AR-15 > Mini-14

have you even seen the "post your AR" threads on AR15.com? Some of them seem to have 4 flashlights, a laser, a couple scopes, a spotlight, a tripod, etc...

$4xx for a mini, $50 a pop for Ruger 20 rd mags, for the cost of 4 mags and the rifle you can get an AR, much better deal IMO.

Just looked at the prices, looks like they've gone up, stainless mini ranch with wood stock is going for around $600 NIB. If the 20 rounders are ruger's they go for $49.99 niw.

Yeah they're 20 rnd Ruger mags.

I was just wondering. I have one that I need to get rid of, but had no starting price most auction sites get me confused with variations I know shit about.

 Never saw a target version before.

I still have a hard on for a blued/wooden-stocked folder.

its like a factory tuned mini 14.... many people shoot tight groups with regular minis as well. the target version has a different barrel and some sort of dampener

even as a mini owner, i would never buy 1 as a target rifle.

be careful, most of the old wooden folder 1s have bad sights. especially underfolders and the old police issue ones. look for a NEW folder if you ever get one.
