This is a great technique that always catches my opponent off guard. It has been effective for me in both MMA as well as pure BJJ. Hope you learn something.

    Anaconda Choke

Example Scenario: Opponent shoots in on you, and you sprawl out and have pretty good control of his upper body.

    Step 1: Initial Position

Position your hands as if you are performing the guillotine.

    Step 2: The Lockdown

Push your right arm deep inside. Turn your left arm 90 degrees so that it is along his side. Your left arm is pushing his right arm in to break his base, and is making a 90 degree angle. Your left hand should be around his ribs. Grap your left bicep with you right hand.

    Step 3: The Roll

Move your head down so that it is low as possible. Your right ear should be making contact with his side ribs. Twist his body and fall on your left side and roll him over until you are on your right side.

    Step 4: The Finale

Walk in clockwise on your side and he will tap.

Today we had a mini tournament and I went up against a guy that was a little bigger than me. He was pretty strong and was being very defensive at the start. He was trying as hard as he could to not let me take him down. After about what seemed like 30 seconds, like the wresteler he was, he shot in on me with a double leg. I sprawled and threw the anaconda on him. The funny part is he was trying to walk his way out of it. What I and the referees didn't realize is that from the second I put it on him he was tapping, but his hands were tied up and the refs didn't call a stop.

I feel sorry for that guy, but I love the submission.

theres a wrestler where i train who's REALLY good at this, and he's only a white belt. the front headlock position is really natural for him, if he gets a head and an arm, im always fearing for my life

It is pretty difficult to pull off on bigger people I'd say.

sucks for people with short arms like myself

I just wish i was 2 or 3 inches taller, it would improve my game so much more. but alas we get what we're given and have to work with it.

It's a little harder, but if you sink it in it works like a charm.
