I've been teaching classes up here for a little while now and wanted some input from you guys in what you really like during your classes. What do you really enjoy, what do you hate, etc...

I'm teaching 1 mma class and a few bjj classes.

For bjj I usually have it very roughly broken up like this.

5-10 minutes of specific drills for that day
    15 minutes on 1 technique
    15 minutes on another
    15 minutes on another
    5-10 of rolling

It's funny that you mentioned that you go into the philosophy and what not bit because I try to do the same thing and surprisingly everyone seems to appreciate that.

Warm up, pummel, wrestle live for ~20 min, learn a technique, drill, learn another (usually related), drill, roll live again for ~10 min, drill, sprawls.

ask your students what they want to do instead of just saying "ok today we're gonna learn blah". instead ask them if there's any technique, transition, submission, theory that they want to cover. any problems they're having and how you would approach the situation.

What days do you teach, and how much for an individual class? If it's a weekend I might be able to make the drive to East/West, and you can beat my fat ass up for an hour or two. (That is where you teach right? lol)

I don't like intense warm-ups and non related bjj warmups like crunches. I like other warm up excersises like kimura sit-ups.

I teach BJJ one time a week, when my teacher teach in another academy.
I used to do 30 min of warmup/drills, 25 min of techniques and then rolling for 35 min or more.
But it is very interesting to break that traditional schedule and try new things.
I've read a very interesting post on this subject today on another board -->

For BJJ - I like to drill only one technique a night and spend most of the time rolling. If I do two techniques a night its just to briefly review the technique from the night before, especially if it was something new.
