Teach me how to use FTP!

Discussion in 'OT Technology' started by Ashmar_Hendrix, Jun 5, 2005.

  1. Hey guys, I'm really new at this and I am starting a web page. I bought my domain name and I got my hosting, and I set up my account so it points to the right name servers. My problem is that now I need to know how to get my webpage up and running...I have to use FTP right? hahaha I can usually teach myself this kind of stuff but I thought I might try to get some help off of OT first and save me some time. Can anyone help me out?

It's best to use a ftp client like WS_FTP.
The only thing you need to do is connect to your server and upload your homepage..

Use command line FTP to your server.
    PHP:
    ftp yourdomain.com
    User
    :  <enter username>
    Password required for <entered username>: <enter password>
    User logged in.
    ftp ls -l
    ftp
    cd public_html

leechFTP is also a good multi-threaded program. Free too.
