Tax Return, which should i get? got it down to 3 choices

Right now ive got it down to 3 guns. Ive got 422 commin from the fed gov. ( student and part time work).

SKS. What im leaning toward right now. Most likely imported into from another state (130 plus around 45 bucks FFL and registration fees, so 175 total). I cant find them under 250 for norincos or yugos in CA anywhere, so id have to have it sent in.

Savage 110, used Rem. 700. I have people that are willing to take me deer hunting next season, and one of these, in good condition used i can find at a local dealer for a decent price that shouldnt go over my 400. I would get 30-06. I like the aspect of having a deer/ game rifle i can practice with well before i go, and i can reload for it.

I just saw Rem 700 30-06 at Wal Mart for $299 the other day. They were on clearance.

Wal Marts in CA dont sell firearms (law suit in 03 i think).

they have a 710 for 399.99, but i dont like how that cycles or feels. My buddy has it in 7mm rem mag, i just dont like its feel, cycling, or anything like that.

I wish our walmart sold guns here (cheaper 10/22's too):wtc:

I am leaning toward the SKS, plus some ammo for the price i have.
and true. I know it is capable of taking down deer, but i dont know how much i trust my iron sight work past 100 yrds. I can hit hte target regularly at 100yds with my .35, so a little more work with that and i can use it effectivly for deer out too 100 150yds, but im not sure how i can pick up a target past that with the iron sights. Again, the range i shoot at is only 100yds, but there is a longer range about 1.5 hours from me (out to 400yds:naughty:) so i would be able to practice long shots every now and then.

Thats what i hate about WOMD, i hear about all these great guns i cant have:wtc:

can you get one for 422. I know other states can, but if SKS's are 450 bucks for ruskies around here, i dont even want to know how high Garand prices are.

How much are they through CMP?

I've taken a buck with an SKS @ about 115-125 yards, iron sights Norinco SKS you could do out to 150, I dont think I'de push past that with iron sights though.

yea, my lever action has the same range (more with lever-evolution bullets, but i can iron sight that far).

but im still leaning toward the SKS, cause it looks like a fun plinker. But that 10/22 is looking damn appealing too. I could start a good build up for 400 bucks. hmmmmm.

Try not to wait to long who knows how long they'll be available for these prices through CMP...

with $400+ you should be able to do both say $150ish for SKS, 250+ left for 10/22 and a scope.

hmm, intriguing. Your about right. 175 bucks for the SKS after fees. And lets say 210 after fees for the 10/22.

Why choose when you could have both, hmmm.
