Seriously, I've been looking for months for something that symbolizes traveling, wanderlust, etc. and I've been completely unable to find something I like...

    DO NOT WANT:

    Sparrow
    [IMG]

    Compass
    [IMG]

    Ship
    [IMG]

    Nautical Star
    [IMG]

    Anchor
    [IMG]

so... am I pretty much screwed?? Any other designs/objects/ideas that symbolize travel??

    thanks!!

you should get a tattoo of a ship dropping an anchor with a nautical star in the sky and a compass on the ship while a sparrow is flying overhead, that would be cool

probably a sparrow or a ship. maybe a nautical star. but an anchor would definitely be my choice.

The pic you posted is of a swallow, not a sparrow. And those do not necessarily mean "travel". The tradition is that they got one swallow for sailing so many miles, and another for the next set of miles. The reason I get it because it symbolizes always finding your way home safe, no matter what troubles you will come across...

Also, the anchor does not mean travel at all as well..

    Maybe try doing some research?

I think you just posted a bunch of sailor tattoos. Sure, sailors travel, but they aren't the only ones. They just happen to have a wicked tattoo culture.

Be more specific when you say you like to travel. Getting a tattoo because you like to travel is like me wanting to get a tattoo in honor of the pleasure I derive from staying at home by myself all day. What specifically do you like to do? Traveling is quite a broad hobby....

Dont be prejudice! Hobos travel! Although they are primarily territorial they have been known to walk long distances in search of a mate or new shopping trolley.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Saint Christopher, patron saint of travelers.
