I've been planning on getting a back piece for some time, but I couldn't imagine in my head how much space I wanted the tattoo to occupy. (After a few attempts) I snapped a picture of my back and photoshopped a little something on there.

I think this works.... or Bigger/smaller?

I'm not necessarily asking if you like the Celtic design... Simply the SIZE of the tattoo, relative to the rest of me!

    Thanks!

size looks about right to me

relative to back shape and whatever

positioning seems weird though, can't really pinpoint why, just looks odd

Yeah, I see your issue with the position.. But I'm not sure what it is, as I spent some time trying to line it up..

I think it is the length of the nails/claws that makes the tattoo look off....

i think it's more that my mind feels shorted - as though if you're going to do an upper back piece like that, it should cover most or all of it and not stop short triangle style, but maybe it's more because i haven't seen designs shaped like that on a back before in that way...i don't know what i'm talking about i'm rambling

either way, sizing is right, looks solid

in that position, it's going to look WAY different when your arms are relaxed at your sides because that part of your back will be shaped differently between when your arms are up and when they're at your sides, especially considering the development of your back muscles.

Definitely.. I didn't really consider that the tattoo would skew back and forth between a relaxed and 'flexed' position.. Do most people not do large tattoo's here for that reason?

Yeah, I'm sure we're not the first to consider that being an issue... I'll just make sure to get a  artist.

And just to clarify, I'm not getting that tattoo.. But that celtic design was originally on someone's back too, so it was easier to photoshop onto my own. That picture is really just about if I like the size and position.

My father, who passed away in '98, was a passionate musician through his younger years, and was in a fairly accomplished band in the 60's. He was the singer, and had a lot of original songs. I'm going to put a lyric of his on my back and theme the piece around that. :o

I'll post some designs when I get workin on it, I hope it turns out slick. And I'm always open for any recommendations

they'll have him stand relaxed with his arms at his sides when they put the stencil on.

take another pic relaxed not being broly and chop the tattoo in and see how it looks.

the placement is fine. and an artist will work with your art and your body and it'll be fine. the placement is pretty cool, although if it were me, i'd have it more spread out if the design you're creating is as crowded as that one.

yeah i was just meaning that it's something to consider. i also like the design, except for the weird fangs or whatever at the top of it.

That particular tattoo I used is not what I'll be getting - I just used it as a basis to judge the size and position.

(I am part Irish, so there will be some Celtic influence on mine as well)
