But he didn't specify. I bought the one used for diaper rash b/c he told me to look in the baby section, but I was reading somewhere that I should've bought a different "vitamin-enriched" A&D ointment not used for diaper rash.

    Does it matter?

Does it have any additives in it like hydrocortizone or any type of steroids? If so, I'd avoid using that. Vitamin enriched doesnt really matter, you just dont want to use anything that says anything about enhancing or speeding up the healing process as these usually cause scarring. (ie: neosporin)

    Lanolin and petrolatum.

I'm not allergic to wool so I'm okay with the lanolin. I guess this works?

When I got my tats, the guy said to use Curel fragrance-free moisturizing lotion.

I used an a/d ointment for the initial week, then switched to fragrance free lotion for the rest of the healing process.

Use something w/ Bacatrin (Neosporin, or store brand) for the first 1-2 weeks, then you can use lotion after that, but you don't want to use lotion right off the bat, you need to help it heal first.

Anybody want to recommend a non-absorbing bandage? I'm getting really sick of wrapping my arm in saran wrap.

Telfa pads are a non absorbant bandage that you could use. Im sure you could find them any place you find first aid items.

*sporin type ointments aren't good for tattoos. they draw a lot of the pigment out.

How many days should I expect to have to do the a&d ointment? Wrapping my arm in saran wrap is starting to get annoying. Tattoo'er said to expect 3-4 days before it starts peeling, at which point I can start using lotion instead of ointment.

Approximately how many days did it take before u guys started up with the lotion?

I think the main thing about neosporin is that some people get an allergic reaction to it. And as a matter of caution, tattooers will probably tell their client to avoid it.

What I've been doing is using A&D all day long, and b/c the point is to not let it dry out, I have to wrap it in saran if I'm wearing a tshirt (which I do b/c I hate wearing sleeveless shirts around unless I'm at home). And my tattooer said once it starts peeling, to start using fragrance-free lotion.

Sorry if I'm asking too many questions...

But is it okay to just go to the lotion from the ointment if the tattoo area is still sore? It's been 3 days, the tattoo'er said it should start peeling around the 3-4 day mark...no signs of peeling yet though and I would like to just do lotion application rather than the ointment.
