I'm sure this has been asked before, but...

I'm getting my first tattoo this saturday and I'm worried about not being able to work out or run. Will straining or sweating be a problem for the tat?

for the first few weeks yes, once it's healed it's fine. Long as you aren't on roids and planning on increasing your arm size by 6 or 7"

unless you can barely move. I always had to take like a week off from anything on account of moving being hard.

getting a tattoo is like taking a piss. it burns for a bit, but it's no big deal.

keep it clean, sweat has potential to cause infections.

if it is on an area where your skin we be stretched and compressed a lot ie stomach and then doing crunches that may cause the scabbing to come off before its ready to.

It's going near the middle of my deltoid.

Should I just take a break from the gym for a week to be safe?

It is never, ever a bad idea to err on the side of caution.

I have the same problem. I'm ready to get a big piece on my back and will be about 8-10" but I plan on losing a lot of weight all in about 3-4 months. Do you guys think it would be a problem?

    8-10" is pretty small :hs:

How much weight in 3-4 months? Where will the tattoo be on the back?

tell me how sweat has the potential to cause infections?
not being insulting it just sounds like you made it up.

furthermore one of my best friends is in the army, he got a tat (on his bicep) on a weekend and continued with PT per normal without any negative effects on the tattoo.
